आदेश, अनुरोध या सलाह (order, request, or advice) देने के लिए आदेश सूचक वाक्यों का उपयोग किया जाता है। ऐसे वाक्यों में subject 'you' छिपा होता है।
सभी आदेश सूचक वाक्य या तो मुख्य क्रिया या 'you' शब्द से शुरू होते हैं। उदाहरण के लिए:
Show it. (show - मुख्य क्रिया, main verb; it - object)
इसका मूल रूप से अर्थ है - You show it.
active-passive दृष्टिकोण से आदेश सूचक वाक्यों (imperative sentences) की तीन श्रेणियां हैं:
object के साथ आदेश सूचक वाक्य
बिना object वाले आदेश सूचक वाक्य
नैतिक सुझाव देने वाले आदेश सूचक वाक्य
object के साथ आदेश सूचक वाक्य (Imperative sentences with object)
हम ऐसे वाक्यों का कई अलग-अलग तरीकों से passive बना सकते हैं।
सकारात्मक आदेश (Positive orders)
सकारात्मक आदेश के मामले में।
Active Voice: क्रिया (Verb) + Object
Switch off the lights.
विधि I: Let + passive subject + be + \(V_3\)
Passive Voice I: Let the lights be switched off.विधि II: You are ordered + (to + \(V_1\)) + object.
Passive Voice II: You are ordered to switch off the lights.
नोटordered के अलावा, हम संदर्भ और आदेश सूचक वाक्य के प्रकार के आधार पर requested, forbidden, commanded, suggested, advised, prescribed, recommended, offered, proposed, allowed, permitted, referred, आदि का भी उपयोग कर सकते हैं।
विधि III: Passive subject + is/am/are/was/were + to be + \(V_3\)
Passive Voice III: The lights are to be switched off.नकारात्मक आदेश (Negative orders)
नकारात्मक आदेशों के मामले में।
Active Voice: Don’t/Never + क्रिया (Verb) + Object
Don’t switch off the lights.
विधि I: Let + passive subject + not be + \(V_3\)
Passive Voice I: Let the lights not be switched off.विधि II: You are ordered + not (to + \(V_1\)) + object.
Passive Voice II: You are ordered not to switch off the lights.
नोटहम यह भी कह सकते हैं – You are forbidden to switch off the lights.
विधि III: Passive subject + is/am/are/was/were + not to be + \(V_3\)
Passive Voice III: The lights are not to be switched off.सकारात्मक अनुरोध (Positive request)
सकारात्मक अनुरोध के मामले में।
Active Voice: Please/Kindly + क्रिया (Verb) + Object
Please switch off the lights.
Passive Voice: You are requested + (to + \(V_1\)) + object.
You are requested to switch off the lights.
नोटजब active voice में 'please' का प्रयोग किया जाता है, तो हम passive voice में 'requested' का उपयोग करते हैं।
नकारात्मक अनुरोध (Negative request)
नकारात्मक अनुरोध के मामले में।
Active Voice: Please/Kindly+ don’t + क्रिया (Verb) + Object
Please don’t switch off the lights.
Passive Voice: You are requested + not (to + \(V_1\)) + object
You are requested not to switch off the lights.सकारात्मक सलाह (Positive advice)
सकारात्मक सलाह के मामले में।
Active Voice: क्रिया (Verb) + Object
Help the poor.
Passive Voice I: You are advised + (to + \(V_1\)) + object
You are advised to help the poor.Passive Voice II: Passive subject + should be + \(V_3\) (नैतिक सुझाव के मामले में हम इस संरचना का उपयोग करते हैं)
The poor should be helped.नकारात्मक सलाह (Negative advice)
नकारात्मक सलाह के मामले में।
Active Voice: Don’t/Never + क्रिया (Verb) + Object
Don’t help the greedy.
Passive Voice I: You are advised + not (to + \(V_1\)) + object
You are advised not to help the greedy.Passive Voice II: Passive subject + should not be + \(V_3\) (नैतिक सुझाव के मामले में हम इस संरचना का उपयोग करते हैं)
Greedy should not be helped.बिना object के आदेश सूचक वाक्य (Imperative sentences without object)
Active Voice: Get out.
ऐसे वाक्यों का passive बनाने के लिए हम उपयोग करते हैं:
You are ordered/requested/forbidden etc. + (to + \(V_1\))
Passive Voice: You are ordered to get out.
नोटobject से रहित active sentences में, passive बनाने का केवल एक ही तरीका होता है (यानी you are ordered to, you are requested to, you are advised to)। हालाँकि, जिन active sentences में object होता है, उनका हम अन्य विधियों का उपयोग करके भी passive बना सकते हैं।
नैतिक सुझाव देने वाले आदेश सूचक वाक्य (Imperative sentences giving moral suggestion)
Active Voice: Protect the weak.
ऐसे वाक्यों का passive बनाने के लिए हम उपयोग करते हैं:
Passive subject + should + be + \(V_3\)
Passive Voice: The weak should be protected.
